Welcome to Woodward Summer Institute, offering summer enrichment classes for girls entering grades 4 - 12. Classes run two weeks, in person, from July 5th - August 13th, with Upper School Music classes running three weeks. Offerings range from STEM to Performing Arts. The classes are led by Woodward Faculty in a cooperative learning environment.  (Program schedule below).

Ever wanted to make an idea come to life? This two-week course will teaches industrial design to student by using 3D modeling software to print actual physical objects that they have designed and modeled themselves.

Have you ever listened to a podcast before? Have you ever thought of making one? This two week course teaches students about the basics to creating a Podcast – from understanding the equipment, editing, and more. Students will then be guided through the process of creating a podcast and end the week with creating a short 5-minute podcast of their design.

Ever wonder how your favorite apps were made? Apps on your phones are made using many different programming languages. This two-week course teaches students the basics of coding, using Swift, as they solve interactive series of challenges that teleport their character to different worlds, activating switches, and collecting gems.

Did you ever take a photo and want to add your own style or do more than pre-made filters? In this two-week course, students will learn the basics of photography and photo editing using Adobe’s Creative Cloud Suite. This includes understanding how to take better photos, import them into photoshop, basic editing techniques, and getting ready for print or posting to social media.

BE THE STAR ONSTAGE AS WELL AS BACKSTAGE! 

During this theatre intensive, we will not ONLY be the ACTORS performing onstage but the DESIGNERS and CREW backstage as well! Within this two-week intensive we will cast, design, and market a show that we will be performing for the public on the last day of the intensive. This course is designed for EVERYONE. Whether you want to be in the spotlight or
be the backbone of the backstage. During this course, we will learn how to create, memorize lines, develop characters, project our voices, and improvise. As well as learning the basics of design, prop construction, stage management, and how to SELL a show! Everyone will have the opportunity to explore every avenue, all while finding the part that is perfect for them.

MS — 2-Week ; HS 3-Week
Vocal/Choral Intensive’s curriculum is focused on strengthening students’ foundational and performance skills, through performance classes, music history classes, breathing bootcamp, theory and sight-singing classes, and an acting for singer's class. Each student will receive coaching and voice lessons and experience master classes with teaching artists. We will dive into the world of professional choral singing and the skills required to excel. At the conclusion of the program, students can expect to have gained a better understand of self as a complete artist with stronger musicianship skills and stronger performance techniques. They will have a clearer idea of their artistic and educational options going forward, and a better sense of the questions to ask. In addition, they will meet talented peers who share their passion for singing and music, and who will help each other become better performers and musicians.

Do you enjoy all things Italian? Italian food and culture, perhaps? Please join Ms. Iolli for a beginners Italian Cooking Class. Ms. Iolli will provide family recipes with fun facts to ensure a delightful and entertaining experience for all. Learn the basics of creating an easy antipasto, pasta dishes, delizioza desserts and much more!

Use your creative writing skills and your critical thinking skills to create a world full of thrilling 
adventures, mysterious characters, and fantastical creatures, where players can work together 
to fight the forces of evil and have some fun along the way. D&D campaigns are the foundation 
of any D&D game - the create-your-own-adventure story that the players get to interact with. 
As the ultimate creator of your own campaign, you design the world, set up the overall plot, 
and provide your players with options and consequences.
