Christa Hagearty is the president and chief executive officer of Dependable Cleaners, with locations around the South Shore and Boston. Her grandfather, Donald Fawcett Sr., started the company; she has been president since 1996. Christa was honored as a Woodward Women of Distinction in 2012.

Her charitable activities include Read to Ride, a program which gives children a chance to win a bike and helmet for each book they read during the summer. More than 50,000 books have been read over the past 14 years.

Dependable Cleaners was recently named a “Top 100 Women-Led Business” in Massachusetts by the Boston Business Journal and the Commonwealth Institute.

The company offers a Clean Suit Stimulus Program, free dry cleaning services to unemployed job seekers. It also partners with The Ellie Fund which supports women and families going through breast cancer. And it sponsors sports teams and provides gift cards for charitable raffles at the level level.

Hagearty is involved with a half dozen other charities including the Diana Devanna Center, Boys & Girls Club and Interfaith Social Services.

The event program paid tribute to “Christa’s many acts of kindness throughout Greater Boston (which) continue to be far-reaching and her many good deeds have made a tremendously positive impact.”
