A Girls' School, A Great Choice

For over 100 years, Woodward has been committed to a school environment that places girls first. We believe that a single sex educational setting is especially beneficial to the academic and personal development of adolescent girls. A girls' school provides a unique sanctuary and allows girls the freedom to be themselves during this formative period. Students at a girls' school enjoy every opportunity in a connected, supported culture which works to counter the complex and often negative influences of the mass media. Girls at Woodward are the academic leaders, the public speakers, the editors of school publications, the student government leaders, the writers, the actors, the musicians, and the athletes. They thrive in classrooms where they study, speak, debate, and take risks without the natural social concerns associated with mixed gender classrooms. We support our girls as they discover themselves, meet challenges, and become confident in exploring their talents and passions in and beyond the classroom.

We invite you to explore and learn more about Woodward's unique mission and culture. The Admissions Office welcomes you to attend one of our annual Open Houses which are held in October and April. You may also call to schedule an appointment at any time throughout the year.
The majority of our applicants are girls in grades 5 and 8. However we do accept qualified transfer students into other grades if there is space available. All interested students are invited to participate in our Discover Woodward Day program which is the first step in our Admissions Process.
