Headmaster's Welcome

Welcome to The Woodward School! I am honored to serve as Woodward's 13th Headmaster and to be part of its longstanding tradition of excellence in education, which has bridged three centuries.   Woodward’s approach to teaching has evolved over time, but the mission has remained steadfast, 147 years after its founding.

Prior to my appointment as Headmaster, I was a Woodward parent for seven years until my daughter graduated in the spring of 2016. At Woodward, my daughter received a classical education that gave her a tremendous grasp on, and love for, the written word - a love that led her to college to study writing, with aspirations to become an author and an educator. Through the thoughtful combination of Woodward’s classical curriculum, along with the theater, music, and visual art programs, my daughter found her voice, her song, and her fire. It is this inspiration, coupled with the tools to achieve their goals, which we seek to instill in all of our students at Woodward.

Thank you for visiting our website. I welcome you to contact us and schedule a visit to our school, and to discover if a Woodward education is right for you.

Sincerely,

Walter E. Hubley

Headmaster
